Get China Ready for Visitors

Posted in: Blog

As we approach the Chinese New Year on 16 February 2018, Landmark Press has some great tips and information on how you can prepare for Chinese visitors.

The Year of the Dog will begin on Friday 16th February 2018. The Chinese New Year is the most siginifcant holiday of the year for Chinese people. It’s like Scotland's Christmas and Hogmanay rolled into one.

It’s a great time to show your Chinese visitors that you appreciate their custom.

Top tip: Giving red envelopes containing money is an extremely popular Chinese tradition at this time of year. Could you do the same at the till or as visitors check in? The number 8 is lucky in China, so you could offer £8 off vouchers, 18% discounts, or an £8 special price offer.

Information guides in Chinese are the third most commonly requested item by Chinese guests, third only to free WiFi and a kettle!

The Landmark Press ‘Welcome to Scotland’ Guide is being translated into Chinese for the first time this year and will be ready by Easter. The guides are on display throughout Scotland all year, in attractions, visitor centres, distilleries, food and drink establishments, tour operators and more.

If you regularly receive Chinese guests or you are preparing to receive them, why not get in touch with Landmark Press regarding the new guide.

新年快乐! Xīn Nián Kuài Lè!

Happy New Year!
