European Championships Glasgow 2018: Need to Know

Get the lowdown on how to welcome visitors to Glasgow (and Loch Lomond) for the 2018 European Championships.

This summer Europe’s top athletes will compete in the European Championships Glasgow 2018, an exciting new multi-sport event bringing together some of the continents leading sports.
 
The Championships take place between Thursday the 2 and Sunday 12 August 2018 and will take Scotland’s sporting reputation to the next level. Around 3,000 athletes will travel to Scotland as part of an overall delegation of around 8,500 including officials, media and others. 

Attendances in the region of 250,000 are expected to attend 137 medal events taking place across Glasgow and Scotland as part of the inaugural European Championships.

There will be a number of free non-ticketed events - including the cycling road race and open water swimming at Loch Lomond, giving as many people as possible the opportunity to witness sporting history on their doorsteps.
