Tourism businesses got together recently for a Love Loch Lomond workshop exploring the use of data and digital.
Scottish tourism and hospitality businesses got together to share insights and explore data and digital trends for tourism, including contributions from Expedia Scotland, at a workshop hosted by Love Loch Lomond at the Lodge on Loch Lomond Hotel, Luss, on 31 May 2018.
In addition to exploring key trends impacting on tourism, including the collaborative economy, millennials and megatrends to 2025, Loch Lomond tourism businesses shared their own insights on collecting and managing data, and using data to engage with and retain customers.
The group also discussed other challenges currently faced by hospitality businesses, including customer booking trends, the role of OTA’s and Air BnB, seasonality and more.
Love Loch Lomond updated participants on current Collaborating for Success project activities, including various tourism research projects, the destination data dashboard and the range of business resources available on the new Business Loch Lomond website.
Synden Grieve, Market Manager (Glasgow and Central Scotland), Expedia Scotland, offered insights on using data to help accommodation providers benchmark and maximise performance, highlighting the advantages of harnessing customer data for better business decision-making.
The workshop included information on free digital tools and learning opportunities, with news that destination organisation Love Loch Lomond is to make available free, one-hour, one to one digital surgery sessions to tourism and hospitality businesses on selected dates between July and September 2018.
